Margot Tohkou (東虹) Olejniczak is a Swiss-based artist of Polish origin and a licensed lecturer of Japanese ink painting (sumi-e).
She first encountered sumi-e 25 years ago at the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno and later studied in Japan under Master Tohun Kobayashi, with whom she continues her artistic training. While teaching numerous students mainly across Europe, she actively exhibits her work internationally in Europe, the United States, and Japan. Her awards include honors from the National Art Center, Tokyo, as well as a Special Award from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2022, she was bestowed the artistic name Tohkou (東虹) by Master Kobayashi.
This exhibition presents a selection of works rooted in traditional Japanese ink painting techniques, enriched by the artist’s personal sensibility and contemporary interpretation. Landscapes inspired by the Swiss Alps and inner imagery reflect the artist’s belief that painting is a single, sincere moment in which the heart is directly revealed through ink and brush.
マルゴ・東虹（とうこう）・オレィニチャクは、スイス在住、ポーランドにルーツを持つ水墨画家、日本水墨画の公認講師。
25年前、上野の東京国立博物館にて水墨画と出会い、日本にて小林東雲氏に師事。現在も研鑽を重ねながら、欧州を中心に多くの門弟を指導し、欧米および日本で精力的に作品を発表している。国立新美術館での受賞をはじめ、外務省特別賞など多数の受賞歴を持つ。2022年、小林東雲氏より雅号「東虹（とうこう）」を拝受。
本展では、日本の伝統的な水墨画技法を基盤としつつ、作家独自の感性と現代的解釈を加えた作品を紹介する。スイス・アルプスに着想を得た風景や心象風景を通し、「描く」という一瞬に映し出される心の在りようを表現している。
